Boeing and FedEx are to work on the next phase of the Boeing ecoDemonstrator using a Boeing 777 Freighter.

The Boeing 777 ecoDemonstrator is scheduled to take place in 2018 using a FedEx 777. The testing is due to last approximately three months before the aircraft returns to the FedEx fleet.

This round of ecoDemonstrator testing will include a compact thrust reverser developed by Boeing, flight deck improvements designed to improve efficient operations at busy airports and prototype parts using new manufacturing techniques that reduce material waste.

The tests with the FedEx 777 Freighter will mark the fifth iteration of the ecoDemonstrator, following the usage of a 737-800, 787-8, 757 and Embraer E-Jet in previous rounds of the programme.

The ecoDemonstrator involves Boeing working with partners from across the industry to improve the environmental performance of future aircraft.
