Russia and the United Arab Emirates have started preliminary talks on joint production of a civil aircraft, it has been announced during the Dubai Airshow.
Rostec said a meeting was held on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow between a Russian delegation and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to discuss the project.
Rostec Chief Executive Officer Sergey Chemezov said: “We will create a working group to discuss it further.”
The aircraft would be based on Russia’s single aisle twin passenger jet, the MC 21-400, with a capacity of 250 passengers.
Joint production could take place in the United Arab Emirates, Rostec said.
