Dubai Airports launches first ‘Youth Council’

Those chosen for the new committee are hoped to grow into positions of leadership in the future

The operator of DXB, Dubai Airports, has collaborated with the UAE’s Federal Youth Authority to create a ‘youth council’.

The new organisation was formed to aid the development of the next generation of leaders.

“At Dubai Airports we are proud of how the UAE is taking steps to empower the country’s youth,” Jamal Al Hai, deputy CEO at Dubai Airports. “Our partnership with the Federal Youth Authority will allow us to play a part in this, and by establishing our own Youth Council we can develop programmes that build on their strengths, bridging the gap between the youth and the senior management here at Dubai Airports.”

On International Youth Day, 13 selected members of the DA council were informed of their successful integration into the team. This was then followed by an invite to a welcome meeting, whereby prominent individuals working in the leadership division were in attendance.

According to the operator, there were many applications for the limited positions. Shortlisted candidates were interviewed as part of the process and asked questions regarding their project proposals, experience and knowledge of the UAE’s youth agenda.

Majed Al Joker, EVP, corporate affairs at Dubai Airports, also reiterated that “young people are the wealth” needed to build a successful operation.

The committee now plans to develop a strategy that will help identify areas of growth potential and opportunities for networking with other government youth initiatives across the region.
