Airports rarely get the kudos they deserve for the efforts they are making to be more environmentally friendly. Chris Smith hears how one UK group has bucked the trend

The words ‘sustainability’ and ‘aviation’ do not coexist easily, despite headway made in the likes of biofuel technology and research into electric-powered aircraft. Advancements in technology regularly make the headlines, but fewer column inches are dedicated to the less dramatic measures airports are making as they work towards a more environmentally-friendly future.

Onwards and upwards 

One group making big eco-strides is AGS Airports, operator of the UK’s Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports.
