Japan looking at missile upgrades

Japan is upgrading its air-to surface missile (ASM) capability and is looking at the possibility of replacing current findigenously designed and built anti-shipping missiles with hypersonic designs, although Japanese work on hypersonic light is still in the research stage. Japan has decided to arm its F-35A Lightning IIs with Norwegian-designed Kongsberg Joint Strike Missiles (JSM) and its F-15J Eagles with Lockheed Martin AGM-158 Joint Air Surface Stand of Missiles (JASSM). Japan is also likely to procure the Lockheed Martin Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM), which has recently entered US Air Force service. David Isby
