The current president and CEO of Flughafen Cologne/Bonn GmbH, Johan Vanneste, is expected to step down from his position at the end of the year.

Assuming the role in May 2018, he has been overseeing operational and technical areas, as well as ground services, sales activities, legal matters and cargo procedures.

His contract was set to run until April 2026; however, the company’s supervisory board accepted his request to leave the post on December 31, 2021.

Vanneste’s decision to remove himself from the role is due to a change in his family life. He has stated that once he leaves, he will not be assuming any other responsibilities at any different firms.

“The supervisory board deeply regrets this move by Mr Vanneste, but certainly understands his reasons, and wishes him all the best with his future personal endeavours,” said Klaus Dieter Scheurle, chairman of the supervisory board of Flughafen Cologne/Bonn. “Johan Vanneste took over management of the airport at a difficult time, and successfully led it through the greatest crisis ever seen in aviation. The supervisory board thanks Mr Vanneste for his work, and firmly believes the trustworthy partnership with the CEO will continue just as it has done until the end of the year.”

Between now and his departure, operations will be managed by both the current CEO and Torsten Schrank, managing director and CFO.
