The firm is set to provide handling services to the airline at Oslo Gardermoen
Global aviation logistics specialist’s, Menzies Aviation, announced it has been awarded a five-year contract by Wizz Air at its newly opened Oslo/Gardermoen base.
The company is set to provide a variety of ground handling services to the carrier, helping to support the smooth operation of domestic flights.
It is predicted that the contract will represent around 5000 turns per annum once flight volumes at the airport recover from the effects of the pandemic. Wizz Air is currently looking to expand its presence in the Norwegian market.
The news follows the recent renewal of an agreement between Menzies and Wizz Air at Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague, which will see the logistics company provide ground handling services to the low-cost airline for the next three years.
“It’s fantastic to see our relationship with Wizz Air go from strength to strength,” said Thomas Andersson, vice president of Menzies Aviation, Northern Europe. “We ended last year with a major contract win at the airline’s Budapest base and have built on this to both secure our contract renewal at Prague and this latest award at Oslo.
“These successes are the result of a close working partnership we have established with Wizz across our network of stations, and the excellent service provided by Menzies professionals on the ground. We are looking forward to ramping up our support of Wizz operations as flight volumes return.”
These new agreements strengthen the relationship between the two companies. Last November, the airline chose Menzies as its ground handling partner at Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport base for the next five years.
The firm currently supports the carrier at airports across London, Cluj, Timisoara, Iași, and Sibiu.
