This marks the latest milestone in the ground handling company’s refurbishment of the complex
Swissport has opened a new office building adjacent to its cargo complex facility at Brussels Airport.
Offering over 54,000sq ft of office space, the new four-story structure – known locally as building 704 – houses the Swissport operations and management, as well as several customers.
The ground handling firm can now improve the flow of trucks, due to the newly implemented queuing area situated in front of the new acceptance office.
“In these challenging times for aviation, we are very proud to distinguish ourselves with this brand-new office and the large-scale refurbishment of building 704,” said Thierry Miremont, managing director of Swissport in Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. “It is a testament to our resilience and ambition in the Belgian market. We are delighted to be able to serve our customers and welcome our employees in this highly modern environment.”
Environmental performance is also set to be improved, as solar panels and a green roof of over 11,000sq ft has been installed. The company stated that being able to experience the airport views from the facility provides employees with a highly modern and motivating work environment.
In 2019, Swissport opened its 39,000sq ft pharmaceutical centre, which offers a large temperature-controlled warehouse dedicated to handling medicament air cargo. A dangerous goods area was commissioned last year, consisting of the refurbishment of the 270,000sq ft loading dock, with 47 truck loading bays.
